An Irken from birth is made a cyborg from the PAK that is implanted onto its back, & merges with its spine. Physically, Irkens are typically short humanoid aliens with insectoid traits, such as their eyes & antennae. In terms of genetics, they appear to be simpler in design than humans are, most likely made so by the control brains on Irk to make cloning simpler, while keeping the irkens stronger traits on top.
